I  can help you. I'm Portuguese, and I like to teach portuguese to whom may be interested... don't you think that this could be a way of enjoying this lovely country more?

Most of the sits you will find on-line are Brasilien, but they help to open some "doors".

I have found a program called Teach Yourself Portuguese by Manuela Cook that has a book and 2 CDs that is well reviewed on Amazon.

i've just bought the earworms musical brain trainer in portuguese...will see how i go with it and keep you posted

to be 100% honest....i took it out of the wrapper...listened to it for 10 minutes and said i must put that in the car and play it when i'm out and about..
that's as far as i got...
must put it on my to do list!!

Earworms is very good, if you listen to it regularly! Like Jocelyn I started then didnt continue due to downright bone idleness on my part!! I used to walk to work and listen to it on the way, or when I was out with the dogs! This has promped me to start again:-)
Hubby uses a Michel Thomas method, available as a CD or you can download it, very good way of learning the grammar and it is european Portuguese.

We are going back to U K tomorrow for a month but will consult a solicitor when we get back.
 
Try downloading Byki 4 express for learning the language.
 
I only downloaded it yesterday but it seems pretty good.
 
Wouldn't it be good if a Portuguese speaker on here would give us a word and sentence with the word in, on a daily or even weekly basis.
 
The older I get the harder and longer it takes for things to sink in.Confused

finally our local college put on an evening course for introduction to Portuguese.  the guy is brilliant....soooo full of patience.

last week we spent 2 hours, saying our name and asking one another what is your name and where do you live....looking forward to my class later!

We've tried Cd's books etc over the years and still stuck on very basic level. We've even tried buying Portuguese childrens books . Learn it one day forgotten the next - must be my age!!. Ive been told by various people not to bother until you move there as then you learn by regular usage of the language.
 
If anyone does know better please let me know !!Smile
