Came across a lovely little foodery the other night - too small to call a restaurant to be honest and it only had a small menu so ergo very specialised which usually means good quality.  It serves a wonderful meal consisting mainly of various types of fish/seafood, they also served chicken and beef but can't comment on them as we didn't have any however if it was prepared as well as the fish it would be very good.
Anyhoo... the starter was bread with olives, small delicious black and green olives that tasted and looked like they came from the chefs back garden rather than out of a jar.  Also with the starter was a gorgeous homemade crab pate - it was very light and I could have eaten it by the spoonful rather than politely spread on the bread (and there was oodles of it)Smile.
The main course - 7 different types of grilled fish coupled with a to-die-for tomato salad (tomatoes, onions, diced green pepper, olive oil, garlic and herbs) with algarve potatoes in olive oil and herbs.  The fish was served individually, the next one being cooked while you were eating the one at your table, rather than all at the same time: firstly came baby squid (my first time, delicious!) and salmon steak.  Next was sea bass, then horse mackarel, then golden bream, then another type of bream, then sardines.  And then a free tot of white port!  We were stuffed! Big%20smile  And all for the rather lovely price of 12 euro a head.  The owner/chef and his wife/sister (I think he said sister but Mrs Wal thinks she was his wife) are very, very nice people and the service was top-notch - totally chilled out and, because of it's location, with no hussle, no bustle, no rush.

It's called "A Tasquinha do Rossio" and it's location is in the old town roughly mid-way between the square and the marina at 58 Rua Dr Santo Silva - if you go up from the tunnel past the Rocomar hotel, Bizarro bar and O Penedo restaurant and then keep going down that street it's at the end on the corner. It's not in the 'flashiest' areas of town (handy if you are staying in the Cerro Grande area) but what you loose in views and surroundings is made up by quality, flavour, service and quantity.  Has tables both inside and out.

A walrus recommending a fish restaurant.

Makes sense.
Unlike most people on this forum, I don't actually like Albufeira very much.....

been again ... really good food...served a stunner of a crab salab, then squid, then salmon, then sole, then mackerel...then asked if we were still hungry ... sardines lurking in the background,so opted for the homemade chocolate cake covered in icecream and strawberries....coffee and plenty of beers and shandy´s...all for 38.50...now thats a proper bargain. To be honest..if you like fish..this is the place to go
Been trying to upload their business card but struggling...so will have a word with tom as of exactly how to do that.DO NOT MISS OUT ON THIS PLACE  XXX

Sounds similar to ze do peixe assado on Estrada St Eulalia, but theirs is quite a bit more expensive. If you only paid 38.50 for 2/3 courses plus coffee and drinks thats really cheap. I love fish but OH is not, likes his chicken and steak.

Walrus, your report/recommendation is spot on, very accurate as we went, on the recommendation of your post and that was spot on.
El brinn, we were in same night as you.
As has been said folks, dirt cheap, great bistro atmosphere, nice people, superb food. We came away with fish protein overload! LOL. Highly recommended.

Does it have anything on the menu or a kids menu that would cater for my children 9 and 12 years old?
