Oh dear. Portimonense were 2-1 up at Porto tonight in the FA Cup, 90 minutes on the clock.
Lost 3-2 after a further 6 minutes of time added on.
Cynics might suggest that the ref played on in that period until Porto scored the winner.
Humbug!

And Portimonense had a player sent off after 78 minutes. A fairly strong looking FC Porto team as well.

Missed a result! An important one too. Thanks to Lofters for telling me that Farense beat Leixões in the FA Cup 2- to reach the 5th round - the last 16. They will be one of four third-tier teams in the draw, which takes place tomorrow. They collected €75,000 in prize money with that win.

Portugal FA Cup 5th Round draw. Ties to be played over the midweek days of 12, 13 and 14 December

Rio Ave FC (LN) - SL Benfica (LN)
Marítimo (LN) - Cova da Piedade (LLP)
FC Porto (LN) - Vitória SC (LN)
União da Madeira (LLP) - CD Aves (LN)
Sporting CP (LN) - Vilaverdense FC (CP)
Moreirense FC (LN) - Santa Clara (LLP)
Caldas SC (CP) - Académica (LLP)
SC Praiense (CP) - SC Farense (CP)

There's a good chance for Farense to make the last eight. They visit Praiense, who are at the same third tier (CP) level. They are currently sixth in their regional division.

Praiense are based in the Azores however! Nice few days out perhaps, weather permitting. There will therefore be at least one third tier club among the quarter-finalists.

The big three have of course avoided each other at this next stage.

Do not book your romantic dinner for two on June 15th!

Dates are in my diary. England's group games don't clash with Kent Cricket fixtures, so I shall now be laying plans for early summer trips.
