Work is progressing and even more holes are appearing. I will have some new pictures later today. It is absolutely not safe to walk along the stretch of road past the Repsol garage. Also it is currently not possible to drive or walk directly towards the health centre; a diversion is in place that will add 400 yards or so to your journey.

Some pictures I took this afternoon are now at

http://thomasallen.spaces.live.com

Loads of men and machinery working away. Dust, muck and organised chaos everywhere.

One odd thing was that no work at all was happening at the new car park site. Wonder why?

They have made a little footpath right through the middle of the mess so people can walk between the main road, the supermarket and the health centre. Use if at your peril!

The N395 has been turned back into a one way system, you can only come into Albufeira, diversions are in operation for those wishing to leave by this route.

Yes, it's all the way up the hill to LIDL then all round the houses. The traffic was being taken  by surprise and there is difficulty even at quiet times.

I didn't take notice of them on Monday when I went past. However, it is planned that there will be a wide path beside and above the river ie round behind the Repsol garage. That will connect to the existing, unused, underpass thus providing a safe walking and cycling route into town from the Calicos and Clube Albufeira areas.

All this will be taking shape through the winter, so stay tuned to this channel for updates and more pictures.

No, sorry. The new underground cables are still be laid amid all the chaos, so i guess all that has be be completed first.

By the way, yesterday i saw some clown drive up as far as the Repsol garage, through the forecourt and onto the blocked section of road. It's a pity I was too far away to take a picture of the look on his face when he found himself up a dead end street and had to reverse back about 20m.

I took some pictures yesterday which I will sort out later. Looks like the start of the work on the paths to me.
