Nothing like 30 or even 25 this morning. There were short and light showers of rain earlier, now it is fairly cloudy, rather breezy and not very warm at 13.4C at 1050am.

Most of the rain has gone now, but there are still some isolated showers around. Maximum temperature today no higher than 16C, the wind is from the north. That means a cold night, down to 9C or thereabouts.

It will still be not all that warm tomorrow but should be dry, Thursday will be warmer at around 20C. The local forecast is still suggesting high 20's from Saturday onwards as a depression comes over the Atlantic, which will draw warm air from the tropics and Africa in this general direction.

By the same token it looks like being very, very, windy across parts of the UK!

We shall see.

Certainly a keen wind there was, and the same this morning so far.

Temmperature at 1145am is 15.1C, it's a cold dry wind from the north. Skies are clear. That does mean we could see 18C this afternoon, it will stay dry but the night will be fairly cold at about 9C.

It will be a bit warmer tomorrow, then from Friday onwards temperatures are expected to climb steadily through the low 20's to each as much as 28C by the middle of next week. No rain is forecast.

I've taken a look at March 24th temperatures for the past few years.

These are the daily maxima and take no account of wind and rain possibly making it feel colder.

Yes - that wind chill definitely made it feel a lot colder yesterday Tom. It's none too warm in unsheltered areas today either...

Wow, both IPMA and the BBC are both now agreed with a 29 degree forecast for next Tuesday, bring it on, I hope they're right!
IPMA are forecasting 30 for the day after, way above average if it happens.

This morning is another bright and breezy one, some blue sky but a bit cloudy. Temperature at 1020am is 14.2C.

This afternoon could reach around 20C, it will stay cloudy but will be dry.

Tonight will feel fairly cold, 10 or 11C, as the wind is still coming down from the north.

Tomorrow is when things start to warm up in a big swirl of air from the tropics. We are expecting 24C, then 25 or more on Saturday. Then, if the predictions are correct, up to 30C in the middle of next week and in the high 20's until Easter weekend.

I am not sure about it staying dry, in fact one forecast says that there might be a few spots of rain tomorrow.

The sun has got his hat on
Hip-hip-hip-hooray!
The sun has got his hat on,
He's coming out today.

Now we'll all be happy,
Hip-hip-hip-hooray!
The sun has got his hat on,
And he's coming out today.

Temperature at 1000am is 16.4C, blue sky with just a few little clouds and a light breeze.

Forecast for this afternoon is 22C (yesterday topped out at 18.3) which is more like the average for mid-May. There's no rain coming.

It will be nice enough night, 12C then tomorrow the wind will be coming from the west and this will take temperatures up to around 26C. Saturday night won't be lower than about 16C, Sunday will be also be hot and sunny. The sunny weather will last all through next week, with temperatures expected to rise as high as 29 or 30C on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The reason is a large area of high pressure sitting off to the west, which is generating a swirl of air from the tropics.
