1.085 today, that's another pint for every €600 in my pocket.

£1 = €1.11 in local payday lender cum pawnshop.
Why do these places offer the best rates? M&S used to have the best high st. rates but no longer. Even the Post Office sometimes comes top. Having said that the difference is negligible if you're just buying enough for a week's break.

Britons heading abroad at the start of the summer are being hit by the poorest exchange rates for almost nine months.

On Friday, the Moneycorp bureau at Stansted airport was offering just €0.89 for each pound on Friday, one of the lowest rates ever seen.

At airports that is, on your way out, the survey in yesterday’s papers showed an absolute rip off pretty much across the board of exchange companies at most airports but as dice says £890 for your £1k was the worst though there were several pretty close.
Lesson to learn, get your dosh up front online.

I hope that you are still around to renew in ten years, and that it still has "European Union" on it, whatever the colour... Smile

I was tempted to apply to become Irish on my grandparent's nationality & stay in my own little bubble of the EU. Going through different queues at passport control from 'erindoors could have been fun. However, inertia overcame me & I did nothing.
