Grey day until mid afternoon, drizzle in the air and beaches deserted until tea-time. Very humid, threat of local stormy showers tonight.

Beach earlier

It stayed reasonably nice yesterday and 27C during the afternoon, but once again it's a grey start to the day. Seems to be the pattern. But ten days around Aquitaine now and no rain, which must be a record.

Fair weather for a bit of cycling in an attempt to get rid of a few kilos. I think I am doing well when elderly Dutch ladies come tearing past, not to mention the blokes with polished legs going twice my speed using gear ratios I don't even wish to think about.

If the clouds lift, I am planning a helicopter ride this afternoon.

After a windy and quite cold night, it's a sunny morning in the Médoc for a change. 27C forecast for later.

I didn't do the helicopter ride. €35 for 5 minutes, no way!

Well after a couple more decent days here in the former English possession of Aquitaine, it is very grey this morning and raining, fairly hard until a few minutes ago.

Horrible day yesterday, rained stair-rods until around 4 o'clock, temperature at 5 o'clock was 19C! Good job I had some work to do and was able to listen to the Test Match on long wave, at least until they went off for rain a little bit early. Still, one day of rain in nearly a fortnight, cannot complain too much.

Weekend looks to be better, which I hope, as there is a wine festival to head for plus the annual 'blessing of the sea' events on Sunday.

Lovely day here in the North East today with temperatures in the low 20's and some fair weather cumulus breaking up the blue sky.

Our football league season starts today so I'm off to see my local Northern League side who are away to Crook Town.

Should be a good day out.

North west weather has been glorious all week.
Apart from a dismal end week of June we complain about the summer this year. May was very nice too.

Really nice sunny day today, 29C at 1700hrs but still windy though. Plenty going on with the annual 'blessing of the sea' outdoor musical goings on and a firework display tonight.

A grey start to the day here, cloudy, very windy and a few spots of rain the air. 17C at 9am local time. Supposed to better later. It was the same yesterday morning, dull until lunchtime then very pleasant. But cycling back to town in the teeth of a near gale was not much fun!

Last day by the seaside. Since Tuesday it's been sunny, but windy and quite cold, 13 or 14C at night, no more than 23 during the day. Good weather to get a few km on the bike and all being well lose a few kilos. But today was much better, 28C at 1130am and little wind.

Heatwave is forecast over the weekend, 34C. Then it's back to sunny Albufeira and Andrew's blast furnace weather. Get that London Pride ready!

Here in Bordeaux yesterday it was like walking around on the inside of one of those big driers you get in  a laundry. Heatwave is here, 34C, and being so far from the sea not a breath of fresh air to be had.
