Portugal FA Cup 2nd round draw.
Only one of the five Algarve teams will be at home. Some of the others have very long trips to look forward to. Games scheduled for Sunday 24th September, ko 1600hrs In the Algarve : Olhanense v Lamego (Lamego is waaaayyyy up north) Away games Torratense v Lusitano VRSA Amora v Farense Praiense v Louletano Espinho v Moncarapachense The big teams come into the third round, which is the middle weekend of October. A strange feature of the draw here is that a dozen or two teams who has lost in the first round have a second chance. A répechage. They put all the losing teams into a hat and the lucky ones get another game. Very strange. |

Hi Tom
I will be at the game this Saturday (If Ryanair don't cancel my flight). This will be my eighth attempt at trying to see an Imortal victory. Please let me know what colours we are in as last time I was cheering for the wrong mob. |

I will be in the bar with some other reprobates I think at 20 or quarter to 3. I hope we are in red but I don't know what colours the other lot play in and it's the home team that changes.
Last night, some points for Portimonense, first since the opening day of the season. Portimonense 2 - 1 Feirense 1 att 2127, just under half full. Or a little over half empty depending on your point of view. Their next home League game is Saturday 30th September at, shock, horror, 4pm or 1600hrs. Visitors are CD Aves from way in the north. Next away game is at Porto on Friday night. |

Last weekend's results next weekend's games
Liga NOS FC Porto 5 - 2 Portimonense attendance 38105 stadium only 3/4 full, obviously Portimonense not a big draw! Portimonense will be at home next Saturday, 30th September, to CD Aves who are bottom of the League. Kickoff is the unusual time of 4pm / 1600hrs. Portugal FA Cup 2nd round Results for Algarve teams Torcatense 2 - 0 Lusitano VRSA Amora 2 - 3 Farense Praiense 2 - 0 Louletano Espinho 1 - 0 Moncarapachense Olhanense 4 - 1 Lamego Farense and Olhanense will therefore join Portimonense in the third round draw, when the big boys come out to play. Campeanatio Nacional Seniores (3rd Tier) Group F No games last weekend because of the cup. Games next SATURDAY 30th September in the Algarve ko 3pm / 1500hrs (Sunday is local elections day which takes priority.) Olhanense v CD Operario Moncarapachense v Almancil Lusitano VRSA v Oriental ALGARVE LEAGUE DIVISION ONE First games Lagos 0 - 0 Quarteirense Quarteira SC 0 - 2 Ferreiras Culatrense 1 - 3 Lagoa Silves 1 - 1 Faro e Benfica Messinense 1 - 1 Sambrazense Imortal v Carvoeiro United postponed Imortal were due to play Algarve CF, but they dropped out of the League on Friday, or they were thrown out, we are not quite sure. Carvoeiro United were promoted to take their place but as they were not due to play the game could be staged. Next Saturday at 3pm /1500hrs Ferreiras v Lagos Faro e Benfica v Quarteira SC at Horta da Areia, Faro Sambrazense v Silves (at São Bras de Alportel) Lagoa v Messinense Carvoeiro United v Culatrense at Estombar Quarteirense v Imortal Albufeira There will be a full programme on 5th October, the republic day holiday. Or least one website says so. The Algarve FA website says they will play on Friday 6th! I will be checking! ALGARVE LEAGUE DIVISION TWO First games, all ko at 6pm / 1800hrs for some weird reason Unidos Portimão v Louletano B venue unknown acording to Algarve FA! Guia v Odiáxere Internacional Almancil v Mentes do Desporto 4 ao Cubo v Santaluziense at Olhão Municipal Stadium 11 Esperanças v Almancil B at Penha, Faro Lagos v Olhanense B Monchique v Mexilhoeira Grande WOMEN'S FOOTBALL The strange fixture list means that after Guia's opening game on 17th September, they don't play again until 5th October. |

Draw for the next round of the Portuguese Cup... due weekend of October 14th.....
Moura v PORTIMONENSE. FARENSE v Estoril. OLHANENSE v Benfica. Doubt the bookies will be offering much in the way of odds on the latter game!!

"OLHANENSE v Benfica."
And I wonder if they will play in Olhao given it is a chance to make more money than they would have had in the last five seasons put together. The other two will fancy their chances against mediocre opposition.

Agreed Tom, looks like one for the Est Algarve [if only it had any transport links!].
I think Farense will do well to get past Estoril tho..... they are Prem team after all, with same record as Portimonense. Very similar tie in fact to Moura/Portimonense. Moura in same division as Farense. Fingers crossed one of em gets through. |
