I will add that work has begun on refitting the Pingo Doce supermarket opposite the health centre (the one that's convenient for Eden Resort and Caliços) but I don't know when it will re-open.

Here are the pictures I took yesterday.  http://1drv.ms/1lpviPw

I will not make any further regular updates as there won't really be anything new to see until the work on the road gets further along. Maybe a week or so before the Christmas holidays could be the next one. Apparently the mayor has announced that if work is not completed in time the NYE event will be moved to the marina.

Where does the pipe that carries storm water under Av. da Liberdade discharge into the sea?  I've assumed it runs out under the pier at Praia dos Pescadores but is that right?

The end of that one is just beyond the end of the pier. The other one, along the beach under the Sol E Mar, takes the storm water from the hills on that side.

Heads up from this morning's trip to the shops.

The Pingo Doce supermarket opposite the health centre re-opened this morning. Along  the river bank towards Camping Albufeira,. work is under way to remove the huge piles of debris that were taken out of the riverbed.

And work has started on reconstructing the tunnel exit under the main road into town. A couple of unfortunates were working to unblock the flow of now very smelly stagnant water. More of those large facing blocks were being delivered to shore up the bank alongside the road.

The road is slowly starting to take shape. Men were even working on a Sunday!

In town, the surface drainage channels are being enlarged. I have some more pictures which will be up later. The escalators are still not working. The supermarkets and eateries along Avenida 25 de Abril are all still closed, which includes the mini-post office. Also permanently closed is Drogaria VÍtor. Apparently the building has been condemned. They have relocated to just around the corner from the Finanças office at the top of Rua do MFA.

Thanks for this update.  The road at Casa da Fonte was badly damaged & that's close to Tunes bar.  Was Tunes affected at all?

Tunes Bar was unaffected and is open as usual. Even Casa Da Fonte managed to stay open at the time the road was ripped up.

A quick heads up - the ATM (Multibanco cash machine) outside the Pingo Doce that was flooded has not been replaced. Not yet anyway. That's the one opposite the health centre and was handy for those at Eden Resort and in the Caliços area.

The Doce Jardim, next door to the Rock Cafe is now open. Also, the restaurant that was the Minhar, opened last night as an Irish bar called O'Dalys. There was a live band followed by some karaoke. Christmas lights are looking good and it's gearing up nicely for the festive season.
