We made the mistake of going to Faliraki in 2002 so I know what British kids can be like when they're off the leash. Seem to think the normal rules don't apply abroad.
Good luck! |

It's a one off "party" event Chloe. Yes there are other stag and hen parties, but they keep the resort going during the other forty or so weeks when the families are not here. And for six of those weeks most of the families are on AI so no use to man nor beast anyway...

Chloe: While agreeing Albuferia does attract its share of the drinking mob I don`t agree that Vilamoura does not have its fair share of drunken louts. When you say "prices too high for them here" It maybe attracts a different wage bracket of drunks. Being a regular attender at top British racecourses York Ascot etc. the hoo ha Henry brigade are the biggest pain in the hearses there is once they have been on the Pimms. Albuferia is a big place and the drunks are pretty easy to avoid as I have already said on this thread they tend to stick to same haunts with like minded people. Unfortunately with cheap air travel all destinations are now easily accessible for stag hen and people who are old enough to know better Birthday parties.

Having holidayed in Albufeira for several years as a family group, girls weekends and couples weekends I have only ever had a good time. I've never been a fan of the strip and you could be in Monte Carlo and there'd be an idiot so I certainly wouldn't avoid Albufeira on that basis. I was just wondering if anyone had heard anything locally. I'm sure me and my family will have a fabulous time as we always have done. And yep, I've also holidayed in Alvor and Vilamoura - lets just say lots of chairs ended up in Vilamoura Marina as a result of the so called 'higher class' clientele! Good and bad wherever you go, I too enjoy a drink on holiday but I always stay aware of my surroundings - particularly as I have my daughter with me. Either way - can't wait to be there in just over a week!

Witnessed some remakable goings on in the car park at Royal Ascot a few years back. No violence involved but people were finding it difficult to drag themselves away from watching the "action" taking place on a rug between a Jag and a Bentley |

I hate how peopleï compare Frank Zappa to God. I mean, he's cool and great and nice and everything, but he's no Zappa.

Agreed Laura75. I have seen the odd plonker wearing a mankini in R. Candido dos Reis. A most unflattering garment. That's unusual though.

Think I underestimated the size of the basketball groups ... 1200 say the Camara ... and spotted a few in town already. There will be a big parade through the old town from Ave Liberdade into the square and along 25 April on Tuesday 3rd from 1830 ...

All kinds of silliness in the square just now in connection with the basketball festival. Hundreds and hundreds of young people, music and this

A point maybe for next year now ... in addition to the 1200 and the 400 above .. we also have the same `young volunteers` group as last year .. AQUAPAC (around 1000) staying in the east end Muthu hotels ... many buses also clogging up the Quinta Pedra access (the only place they can reasonably load and unload) ..

...and Continente was very busy on Thursday with some very tall young people, a beady eye being kept on them by the security guard and other staff.
